Mission
A great deal of unseen and unacknowledged work goes on behind the scenes to create the vibrant culture we enjoy in Ireland's Midwest. Whether it's a dance performance in the heart of the city or a play in a small community hall, artists and event producers work hand in hand to enrich our lives.
Outside the capital this work does not always get the recognition it deserves. We have created the Midwest Arts, Media & Culture Awards to celebrate the special talent in the region and decentralise the recognition of these endeavours.
Not only will MAMCA shine some light on those performances that deserve special notice, it will encourage all arts practitioners by establishing standards of excellence. We also hope that our awards process will establish a template that will eventually help other regions to take pride in their artistic achievements.
What do we mean when we say midwest? This area corresponds with the Shannon region watershed, and comprises the counties of Clare and Limerick along with South Offaly and Tipperary North.
